pH body balance – The Health Implications

pH body balance

Raw Food Energy

Despite being a vegetarian for more than half my life, I have realized recently I should be more aware of my pH body balance. Having picked up the Honestly Healthy books by Natasha Corrett and Vicki Edgson, I decided to test the pH value of my urine. You may wonder what a pH body balance is and why it is crucial.

When measuring a pH body balance, the H stands for hydrogen. Water is considered to be neutral at seven. Anything higher than seven is considered to be alkaline. Anything less than seven is considered to be acidic.

After we have digested any food that we eat it leaves “ash” which is either alkaline forming or acidic forming. Acid forming foods have a degenerative effect on our blood and tissues. It is a chronic health problem which leads to osteoporosis, kidney stone formation and later kidney disease as well as muscle wastage. If this is left uncorrected for years, it can cause the immune function to falter.

When I was undergoing my last health kinesiology treatment, I was advised to cut out the nightshades vegetables, potatoes, aubergine peppers, and tomatoes. This suggestion was in August when my garden had perfusion of these vegetables. This year is my first year of organic gardening to full production, and there was no way I was wasting those vegetables.

Improving Energy Flow

That was in August, now it is the middle of October, and I am going back to review what my body said it needed. Those of you who have never heard of health kinesiology, muscle testing is the key. When your body knows something is good for the muscle remains strong. Conversely, it goes week when something is harmful or detrimental to the body.

What I am looking for in my nutrition is both biological and energetic order in my body. My husband had cancer, and he chose to go down the chemotherapy route for his treatment. The process of chemotherapy involves poisoning someone to within an inch of their lives. To keep his strength up, to withstand the treatment, he had to eat. To encourage him to eat I ate as well. He maintained his body mass during chemotherapy, and I put on 50 pounds.

At the moment my body seems to be asking for raw food. I also need to get back to the combining diet as I know this makes me feel as an optimum health level. I intend to work on the natural cure system of regulating my food, water, exercise and sufficient rest.

Leaving Energy For Spiritual Improvement

Part of the reason for changing my diet is also spiritual. I understand all the conscious level that your body needs to have clean foods. That is foods that are easy to digest.

I would prefer my body to use the energy for detoxification, rather than struggling to digest indigestible foods. For instance, fruit tends to leave the system within 20 minutes, and pork can be 72 hours. In the meantime, that pork is sitting in your stomach rotting.

So my motivation is physical to balance the energy requirements of my body as regards nutrition, rest and exercise. I also have a spiritual reason because I have had some massive breakthroughs lately and I want to improve the spiritual experience.

I reason that if I have a balanced way of eating, I will have a balanced body and will be able to balance my energy more efficiently.

Many the most acidic foods are quite often our comfort food of choice. All meats are highly acidic. All alcohol, coffee, hot chocolate, black tea and all soda drinks containing sugar are all very acidic.

All the produce from cows including yogurt, cream, ice cream, ghee, milk, and butter are also acidic.

All commercially made breakfast cereals, wheat, pasta, bread, chickpeas, lentils, and dry peas are also highly acidic.

Being Vegetarian is not Enough

As a vegetarian, I don’t eat meat. I have also recently in the last two months stopped drinking alcohol. Unfortunately, organic coffee is still one of my weaknesses. It doesn’t give me headaches, and I can drink gallons of it with no apparent side effects. Except, of course, it makes my body acidic. I will try to reduce coffee gradually. I loathe black tea so stopping that will not be a problem. I have recently found an Organic Cape Malay Rooibos tea which I love. Although I can drink this for the rest of the day, I will struggle not to have a coffee in the morning.

I also know the significant change is necessary so eventually, I’m going to have to grin and bear it. All of the reference books I am using to construct my new diet are below. You will also notice my new blender. This blender may seem super extravagant, but I consider it worth it.

I’ve had over the years many cheap blenders, and the best was the nutribullet range. However, they don’t make nut butter, and homemade almond butter is just delicious. You don’t need to buy the blender to benefit from an alkaline diet. You can use an ordinary food processor, but they will be a difference in texture. Carrot juice will be like a smoothie with hard bits in, whereas in my new blender and juicer it reduces it to juice.

Basic of Food Combining

The second part of my changing my diet is food combining. Food combining can be as complicated or simple as you choose to make it. For now, I am just going to used two rules.

The first rule is always to eat fruit on an empty stomach and never eat fruit with any other food. Certain vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and avocados are biologically fruits so they can be combined. I plan to eat fruit for breakfast.

I may well eat them as a juice, is a smoothie, whole or in a fruit salad. The main thing is to chew them well to extract all the natural sugars.

The second rule of food combining is to eat either vegetables and protein or vegetables and a starch. Basically, that means don’t combine proteins such as egg with starches. Examples of starches are peas, corn, potatoes, rice, grains, and pasta.

The third major change I’m going to undertake is to drink at least 3 Liters of water a day.
